1 Scala School of Wine (for these purposes hereunder, 'Scala') undertakes to carry out the agreed event and to consult in detail on arrangements so that there is complete understanding between the client and Scala as to what is to take place. Scala undertakes to treat all information about the client’s business with the utmost confidence. Under no circumstances will we reveal the terms of our dealings with any client to another potential or actual client. We do reserve the right to publish a list of former clients from time to time.
2 All our tax-dated invoices will be issued as draft invoices itemised for agreement before submission for payment. Scala will not mark up venue costs if incurred but will charge at an agreed rate for venue-finding if this involves any substantial research, viewing, negotiation and transaction with a third party venue.
3 Scala is registered for VAT no GB 673189603 and will charge VAT at the current rate on all invoices. Wines for sale on this site are priced VAT inclusive; the VAT amount for wine sales will be shown clearly on all invoices.
3 We require 50% deposit payment of our agreed invoice in advance of an event by arrangement, in order for the event to be regarded as a firm commitment by Scala. If the deposit remains unpaid prior to the event we reserve the right to engage other business in the same slot. We will always give fair warning about third party requests for same dates which are provisionally booked prior to payment but remain unsecured with a deposit.
4 After receipt of deposit Scala will issue a balancing VAT invoice prior to the event. We request that the final payment be made on the day of the event or immediately following by arrangement. For all travel events in Champagne, Bordeaux and the Douro Valley, all Scala fees for the event must be paid in full in advance, by a date agreed between us.
5 Normally Scala reserves the right to supply all wines, including reception wines, for an event, unless by arrangement with the client.
6 Scala will normally supply all wines at retail prices. The nature of what we do requires a large number of suppliers and we search and taste constantly for the best wines available for events.
7 Scala will supply wines for social drinking after events, if requested, on consumption (‘sale or return’)
8 If Scala fails to carry out an agreed event any fees paid are repayable by us to the client in full.
9 Postponement: A postponement occurs when a client informs us an agreed, planned date is now not wanted and at the same time requests a new date which is agreed. If the client postpones an agreed event to a new date, and a submitted invoice deposit for the original event has not yet been paid, and the date on which the postponement is made is more than 30 business days before the new date advised, the period to include the date on which the postponement is advised, a retention fee of 50% of the fee element of our agreed invoice will be charged by Scala as part of the invoice for the new agreed date.
10 If the client cancels an event for which a deposit has been paid, the deposit will be returned at the following rates:
Over 30 business days’ notice…………in full
21-30 business days’ notice…….......…50%
10-20 business days’ notice…….......…25%
Less than 10 business days’ notice… 0%
11 Agreement to engage Scala for an agreed event is acceptance of these terms of business unless by prior written agreement between Scala and the client to vary these terms.
12 Scala may vary these terms and conditions at any time but those relating to any agreement or transaction will be those posted on our website on the business date of our invoice for that service.
1 We do not export or deliver wine to any address outside UK borders.
2 All wines are for sale subject to remaining unsold. The prices published on our website replace all previously published prices and we may vary these prices at any time. However, the prices shown on your invoice are the price you have to pay if we have changed prices on the website since issuing the invoice. Prices shown on the website include VAT, but the VAT amount charged will be shown on the invoice. The minimum order is 6 bottles and minimum quantity supplied of a single wine is 3 bottles. In the case of split cases, whether of 6 or 12 bottles, we may not supply the wine in the original case.
3 Delivery is £15 per single address and single drop in mainland England and Wales, no matter what the quantity of the wine delivered. Delivery charges to all other addresses are by separate agreement. We do not sell wine for delivery beyond mainland England, Wales and Scotland. All orders exceeding £650.00 ex VAT qualify for free delivery. We undertake to take every care to ensure delivery at your convenience within reason and to deliver wines to you within one week of payment in full for them being received.
4 All wines must be paid for in full before despatch to you by us. Payment in full means identified cleared funds in our account. We accept payment by all cards as published on our website or by cheque to 'Scala School of Wine'.
5 All goods must be examined by the customer for short delivery or breakage at the time of receipt and, at the time of receipt, the delivery note copy signed and handed to the delivery company agent accordingly with a clear detail of what is wrong.
6 If you believe any bottle of wine to have a technical fault we undertake to replace it at no cost to you, subject to return of the bottle back to us largely containing its original volume of wine and resealed, so we may examine it and agree the fault and discuss this with the producer or original supplier. Wines you believe faulty must be returned to us within 10 days of receipt by you.
